Energetic Soul is the only dance studio in Detroit that specializes in cuban style salsa and casino de rueda. Duane Wrenn is arguably one of the top cuban style salsa dancers in the Midwest and has been a featured instructor at a number of congresses. Commited to increasing awareness of Afro Cuban culture and broadening his students understanding of dance, music and culture, duane regularly brings in master instructors for afro-cuban workshops.
In addition to standard dance classes, they offer instructor training and a performance team for advanced students. Energetic Soul also shares a studio with Martial Arts Unlimited lead by Sifu Chris Malgeri and may offer combination dance and martial arts packages.

What an eventful weekend (July 20 & 21, 2007) it was at the new Energetic Soul Dance Studio. Besides the Grand Opening celebration, they also held special workshops, featuring the very talented Felix “Pupy” Insua. Cuban by birth, now residing in NY, Pupy has come to Michigan with a lot of love for what he does. Specializing in traditional Rumba, he is quite original in his teaching.

duane and Maribel of Energetic Soul studios teach beginner and intermediate footwork and partnerwork in the Soul*Sa Adapt-Ability series. Based on a salsa style that combines linear and circular or casino style dancing they demonstrate basic partnerwork as well as exercises designed to build a foundation for more complex patterns.
